Janine is an American expat living in Southern Russia near the beautiful Caucasus Mountains where a rare breed of sheep roam free and are raised by small-scale organic farmers. When she learned that sheepskin hides are tossed aside when the sheep’s meat is sold at local markets, she saw an opportunity to offer customers an alternative to the modern mass production of hides by taking advantage of an organic byproduct.
Janine decided to work hand-in-hand with the local community to source sheepskin pelts that are sustainably sourced. The sheep roam freely in the picturesque Caucasus Mountains in Southern Russia and are raised by small-scale organic farmers. Every hide used is hand-picked alongside the sheep farmers. They are then tanned naturally without dyes and handcrafted by local artisans. The process of creating each product is raw, natural and deeply rooted in the community. The result is exquisite authentic hides which are truly 100% organic, ethically handmade and one-of-a-kind statement sheepskin pieces.
